We explore the history and music of The Beatles in a 3-part series which incorporates lecture, audio, and video. In Part 3, The Beatles self-produce “Magical Mystery Tour.” In February 1968, they visit India for meditation and compose songs which become the basis for “The Beatles” and the “White Album.” In early 1969, they film rehearsals for a new album and tour. Instead, they play a rooftop concert and the album, “Get Back,” is set aside. They work with George Martin on “Abbey Road” in 1969, then break up. The retitled “Let it Be” and rehearsal film is released soon after.

Instructor: Gene Shwalb graduated from Oberlin Conservatory of music where he studied piano and cello. He received his M.Ed. from UMass Boston in online learning design, and recently retired after 17 years as a Learning Designer there. He edits the Music Museum of New England website: MMONE.org. Gene is currently enrolled in the post-graduate program "The Beatles: History and Culture" at Liverpool University. He is also proficient on synthesizer, bass, and guitar.
