Noted Yale University professor Jaroslav Pelikan (1923-2006) wrote a book titled Jesus Through the Centuries: His Place in the History of Culture in 1985 in which he set forth the many images of Jesus of Nazareth throughout history, such as “The Prince of Peace,” “The Teacher of Common Sense,” “The Liberator,” and “The Man Who Belongs to the World.” This course is a continuation of Jesus Through the Centuries, Part 1 and Part 2 . It is not necessary to have taken the first two courses. Each image of Jesus will promote a self- contained discussion. We will analyze and converse about each image of Jesus and evaluate its relevance for us today.
